Starting Tuesday the 8th of September, and until further notice, the physical spaces of the IHE library will be opened exclusively to IHE students and staff as follows:
The reading room - Monday through Friday from 08.30 until 19.30. A maximum of 12 students/staff will be admitted at any one time, on a first come, first served basis, provided the 1.5m distancing rule, the available sitting arrangements and the no food or open container drinks rules are observed at all times. Persons who persistently ignore these rules shall be denied access in the future. Should the maximum sitting capacity be reached, you are kindly requested to locate another space in the building to study.
The reference desk - shall remain closed until further notice. The virtual reference desk will continue to be opened as previously, Monday through Friday from 09.00 until 17.00.
The books depot shall remain closed until further notice. Books can only be requested through the online Library catalogue or directly at the reference desk during the aforementioned opening hours. IHE staff and students can use the “request to pick up” function in the catalogue to collect printed books. This service is not available to non-IHE library users.
The book(s) shall be made ready at an allocated time-slot at the booth opposite the IHE reception area. After using the “request for pickup” option in the catalogue, an email confirmation will specifically indicate the date/time-slot upon which you can come and collect the title. Owing to the current safety protocol, we kindly request that you strictly observe this time-slot.
If you have books on loan that need to be returned, you can choose to renew your materials through WorldCat Discovery (Click Sign in-> My Account). Please note that the loan term of all outstanding books has been extended to 80 days.
Please do not hesitate to contact the library in case you have any questions or remarks.
Borrowing & renewing loans
A maximum of ten items may be borrowed from the library at any one time. The maximum loan period is 21 days, renewable up to a maximum of 42 days. Reference works, MSc theses, bound and non-bound periodicals and materials bearing a green sticker may not be borrowed. By using their library card to borrow items from the library, borrowers agree to be responsible for those items, including the cost of replacing lost or damaged items. Renewals can be made online by using the sign in function within WorldCat Discovery or by sending an email to email@example.com.
The complete library collection, including EBooks, printed books, EJournal articles, Master theses and PhD dissertations, is accessible through WorldCat Discovery. Both IHE Delft students and staff have access to the Library catalogue. Upon registration IHE Delft students receive a registration card which can also be used to borrow items from the library collection.
The repository is designed for smart phones, tablets and workstations and allows the library to easily build and showcase digital collections easily. Among various useful APIs, the repository uses Optical Character Recognition, which allows text characters in an image file to be searched, therefore enhancing the discovery experience. The repository is also integrated in WorldCat Discovery.
