Western Europe
IHE Delft, Westvest 7, Delft

The Water Sector Market provides the opportunity for the private and public water sector to get acquainted and build relations with the international student population of IHE Delft.

IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (formerly known as UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education) students and alumni can play a key role in providing linkages between the (Dutch) water sector and international partners. This event is the ideal opportunity for private and public water sector organizations to make useful contacts and generate interesting business opportunities for the future. The timing of the Water Sector Market is planned to coincide with senior students having just finished their academic programme, before they return to work in their region of origin.

Organizations attending the market have the opportunity to get acquainted and start building long-term relationships with our international MSc students and PhD fellows, originating from developing countries and countries in transition.

Tables will be available for organization to display and distribute information material in English. The water sector is also invited to send corporate videos to the organizers prior to the event. In addition to networking opportunities, the participating organizations' information will be shared with IHE Delft’s 15,000 alumni worldwide.

IHE Delft alumni

IHE Delft alumni can play a key role in providing linkages between the Dutch water sector and international partners. This event is the ideal opportunity to proactively generate interesting business opportunities for the future. At the time of the event, IHE Delft’s senior students will have just finished their academic programme and will be graduating and returning back to their home countries within the next days.

IHE Delft Institute for Water Education's alumni are employed in public and private organizations in the field of water, as well as in international organizations worldwide. Many alumni reach prominent positions in which strategic, managerial, policy and decision-making components become a major part of their function. They support the implementation of the global water agenda and improving the quality of life of their communities every day. A comprehensive tracer study done in 2011 confirms that over 95% of the alumni return to their home country/region after graduation and that over 87% remains active in the water sector for many years.

An interesting finding from the last alumni survey, which is highly correlated with the relationship between education and the professional world, is related to the enlargement of their professional networking through IHE Delft. Alumni were asked to rate the extent to which their professional life benefits from the contacts made at the Institute and about their contacts with UN and Dutch organizations: 50% of the respondents from Europe, North America and Oceania have worked for or with a Dutch organization, especially in the role of partner or consultant; almost 25% of the respondents from Africa and Asia have worked for or with a Dutch organization, especially in the role of partner.
