- 27 May 2019 - 31 May 2019
The 9th Coastal Sediments conference, will be held between 27 to 31 May with the theme of “Advancing Science & Engineering for Resilient Coastal Systems”. The Conference provides an international forum for technical discussions and networking with coastal engineers, geologists, oceanographers, and others interested in the physical processes of coastal sediments and morphology change, where they are invited to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and establish or enhance collaborations. The winner of this years' Coastal Award is IHE Delft's Professor Dano Roelvink.
The Coastal Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the coastal sciences. Dano Roelvink, Professor of Coastal Engineering and Port Development at IHE Delft and a senior specialist at Deltares will be given the Coastal Award of 2019.
Professor Roelvink received the International Coastal Engineering Award from the Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institute (COPRI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers, in 2017. Additionally, he has worked with many institutes worldwide, as well as with US Geological Survey, US Office of Naval Research and the Army Corps of Engineers, further the state-of-the-art in morphodynamic modelling. His latest endeavours include the development of a free-from coastline model, ShorelineS and a wind driven model Duna, coupled with XBeach.
