Giuliana Ferrero PhD, MSc

Senior Lecturer in Water Supply Engineering


She graduated in Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy) in 2004, she was awarded a Master degree in Experimental Geology from the University of Barcelona in 2005 and a MSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Girona in 2010. Her PhD was awarded in 2011 from the University of Girona. Her dissertation title was: Development of an air-scour control system for membrane bioreactors.

Prior joining IHE Delft she worked as postdoctoral researcher (2011-2012) at the Catalan Institute for Water Research in Girona (Spain). In 2011 she was based in Mallorca (Spain) where she worked for AQUAGEST Medio Ambiente (Agbar group) within the framework of the European project MEDIWAT. She has been employed as teaching assistant at the University of Girona (2009-2010) while she was conducting her PhD research (2008-2010). In 2007 she worked for one year as UN fellow at the Italian Development Cooperation Office of the Italian Embassy in New Delhi (India).

Her work at IHE Delft focuses on teaching, developing lecturing material and supervising MSc and PhD research in the fields of drinking water disinfection, water quality, water safety plans and advanced oxidation processes. She has been involved in capacity building projects in Suriname, Rwanda, Georgia, South Africa.
