Western Europe
online (only in the Netherlands)

IHE Delft and Movies that Matter are organizing an online screening of the documentary UMA: A Water Crisis in Bolivia, which is part of the annual Movies that Matter Festival. This year, due to Corona, the festival is fully online.

The documentary follows three indigenous communities in the Bolivian highlands take on the mining companies polluting their water. They demand compensation and full information, but the miners have the government’s backing and can operate with apparent impunity. A story of resistance, courage, and the fight for environmental justice.

The film will be introduced by IHE Delft Rector Eddy Moors. After the screening, writer and filmmaker Rachel Visscher will speak to film director Ana Llacer and Sergio Salinas from Bolivia, and associate professor at IHE Delft. The audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions to the guests.

Please note that the documentary can only be seen in the Netherlands, due to copyrights.
