Prof. Ranasinghe was filmed by BBC, talking about better predicting the risks of climate change on coastal communities.
Ranasinghe is Professor of Climate Change Impacts and Coastal Risk. The video clip, which was filmed at UNESCO-IHE's premises in Delft, is can be viewed here.
"Nearly one-quarter of the world's population lives within 100 km of the coast and at least 100 metres below sea level. Over the next century, the impact of climate change will redefine coastal areas, impacting on local communities. Professor Roshanka Ranasinghe, holder of an AXA Chair in Climate Change Impacts and Coastal Risks at the UNESCO-IHE, is developing new models, capable of quickly predicting long-term erosion risks."
