BEWOP is a 5-year research, operational guidance and outreach initiative aimed at boosting the effectiveness of Water Operator Partnerships (WOPs) around the world. The project will identify the bottlenecks and pitfalls to effective WOPs and develop products to help address them.
UNESCO-IHE is jointly leading this initiative and is applying the Institute's expertise and research capacity on water and sanitation issues to the growing global WOPs movement. Analysing real cases and gathering feedback and comments from practitioners will allow the Institute's researchers to come up with useful tools and supporting material for all actors involved in WOPs.
The new website launched today, BEWOP.org, features updates on all areas of the project: Research, Operational Guidance and Outreach. The site will not only inform on project activities such as field work, research findings, and tool development, but also invite users to get involved.
BEWOP is fuelling the Global WOPs movement in collaboration with the Global WOPs Alliance (GWOPA) and UNESCO-IHE, a world-leading water sector capacity development institute. The project is furthermore identifying additional online WOPs resources and finding new and innovative ways to make these tools accessible.
BEWOP is being made possible with the support of the Dutch Government. For more details or to find out how you can get involved, please contact: BEWOP@gwopa.org
