IHE Delft in collaboration with National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Makerere University and EAWAG Switzerland organized a high-level meeting on Water Safety Plans (WSPs) that took place on Monday, 28 May 2018, at the NWSC International Resource Centre in Kampala.
The objectives of the meeting were: i) to understand roles and responsibilities of different actors in developing and implementing WSPs in Uganda; ii) to share experiences and lessons learned from 15 years of WSP development and implementation; and iii) to devise a joint strategy for scaling up WSPs.
During the second half of the meeting stakeholders participated in a focus group discussion. The main topics discussed were the current status of WSP implementation, the challenges encountered, the strategies to improve implementation, financial implications of scaling up WSP, and roles and responsibilities with regard to monitoring and verification (auditing).
