HKV and IHE Delft team takes 1st place in the WACA Innovation Challenge

On 18 November 2020, HKV and IHE Delft were announced winners in the Innovation Challenge in World Bank’s West Africa Coastal Area Management Program (WACA). The proposed innovation WAC-App is an interactive coastal planning tool that can help in early sorting and exploration of viable solutions for port developments and in combatting coastal erosion.

IHE Delft congratulates the team consisting of IHE Delft colleagues Dano Roelvink and Ali Dastgheib, as well as their HKV team members Fredrik Huthoff, Vincent Vuik and Roy Daggenvoorde.

The prize money of US$ 30K will go towards further development of the idea, and the team is very excited to get WAC-App started!

This Innovation Challenge started in April, and there were 22 submissions in total. After being longlisted, subsequently selected as one of the five finalists, the HKV/IHE Delft team was delighted to receive first place of the total of three winners.
