On 13 February 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR) Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and IHE Delft. Dr. Kabir Bin Anwar (Water Resources Secretary) and Prof. Dr. Eddy Moors (Rector of IHE Delft) signed the MoU.
The MoU will enable capacity development of future young water professionals from Bangladesh through tailor-made short courses, MSc and PhD programmes, including training courses on basin-wide water resources management. Also, joint action research will take place to identify innovative and practical solutions for water resources management in Bangladesh. Last, a collaboration regarding a proposed international training institute by the Water Resources Ministry for water resources development and management will start under this MoU.
During his visit to IHE Delft, Secretary Anwar, Ambassador Belal and members of the Bangladesh delegation exchanged views with Bangladeshi students at the Institute. The Bangladesh Ambassador to the Netherlands H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Belal joined the signing ceremony at IHE Delft.
We were very honoured to welcome Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Authority and Malik Fida Abduallh Khan Deputy Executive Director, members of the delegation and IHE Delft Alumni. Mr. Rahman and Malik will be engaged in the implementation of this project.
