UNESCO-IHE has recently become a full member of the Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform. The platform was initiated by the European Commission in 2004 to promote coordination and collaboration of research and technology development in the water industry.
The Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform (WssTP) is recognized by the European Commission and National governments as the reference in research and technology in the water sector.
WssTP has a strong network of members and contributors involved in its activities, including the delivering of research strategic vision and the production of evidenced based reports identifying future research needs.
From fundamental research to implementation, WssTP is proactive in identifying future challenges.
WssTP Working Groups
The platform also includes quite a few working groups on specific topics, technical and nontechnical.
The working groups feed relevant outcomes of their work to the steering committee of the platform, which brings such outcomes to the attention of policy makers and funding agencies.
UNESCO-IHE was invited to take part in the activities of several working groups.
