On Wednesday 4 February, the University of Geneva and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Education signed a Memorandum of Agreement to reinforce the collaboration between the two institutions in education and research in the areas of water governance, water policy analysis and water diplomacy.
The MoU, which will serve as a basis for coordinating joint activities, was signed by Professor Jean-Dominique Vassili, the Rector of the University of Geneva, and by Professor Stefan Uhlenbrook, Vice-Rector of UNESCO-IHE.
Broadly, the goals of the agreement are for both Institutions work together to develop a joint education programme and continuing education, a joint research agenda on selected projects and joint events and conferences. They also intend to set up student and academic staff exchanges.
The University of Geneva is active in the water sector. Amongst other things, it recently established the Geneva Water Hub, a water policy hub connected to an international network of researcher working on water issues.
