25% Water Productivity Improvement in Practice (Water-PIP) Phase 2

  • Partners: WUR, ELeaf, FAO
  • Donor: Stichting IHE Delft
  • Donor Programme: DGIS - UNESCO-IHE Programmatic Coorperation II

This proposal is requesting a topup of the Water-PIP project to further build upon the experiences in the first phase of the project and to initiate activities for upscaling the use of the WaPOR platform through engaging with the international donor community and develop an open access courseware about water productivity improvement and supporting knowledge and service hubs in the global south. The main goal is creating a wider userbase for the WaPOR database anong practitioners, scientific community, and policy makers. Upon implementation, it contributes directly to achieving the original project objectives: “The main objective of Water-PIP is to guide DGIS partner countries and Dutch funded water projects in WP concepts to reach 25% WP improvement in the agricultural sector using WaPOR. An agricultural system should be developed that is more productive, sustainable and less vulnerable to climate change. WP and related information should be used for fact based decision making to create more benefits and services from water used in agriculture.” (source: Water-PIP proposal; Annex 3).
