The main objective of this research is to use locally available low cost resources to enhance the performance of water treatment processes in the context of developing countries. The main contaminants addressed in the research are removal of turbidity, organic matter, bacteria and fluoride. It is envisaged to develop appropriate methods of treatment applicable to point of use (POU) and decentralized point of entry (POE) treatment technologies.
