Sergio Salinas Rodríguez PhD, MSc

Biography

Sergio Salinas has a PhD degree in the field of desalination and membrane technology (TU Delft) and holds a university degree in Civil Engineering and two master degrees: in Irrigation, Drainage and GIS, and in Water Supply Engineering. He also obtained a University Teaching Qualification.

He coordinates three modules and lectures in the MSc programme in Water Supply Engineering, mentors MSc and PhD students, coordinates the module "Desalination and Membrane Technology", organizes short courses, manages research and capacity development projects, and presents research findings in scientific journals, international conferences, lectures and in specialised meetings. Sergio is in charge of the desalination and membrane technology research line at IHE (www.desalination-delft.nl).

He has (co-) mentored more than 35 MSc students, graduated 1 PhD research fellow (N. Dhakal, 2017) and currently (co-) supervises 4 PhD research fellows (M. Abushaban, M. Sousi, N. Mangal, and R. Schurer). He has 18 publications in peer-reviewed journals (cumulative impact factor = 61), 19 conference proceedings, and 5 book chapters in the areas of membrane desalination technology and natural organic matter characterisation. He is a member of the SENSE Research School (101 credit points for publication output).
