Alumni Award

IHE Delft’s more than 23,000 alumni form one of the world’s largest global water networks. Alumni use the knowledge they have acquired at IHE Delft and elsewhere to make a positive impact on water matters around the world - they innovate, design, implement and maintain solutions that benefit their societies, and they lead cooperative, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral efforts to address water and environmental challenges. They help bring the world closer to fulfilling Sustainable Development Goal 6, which calls for water and sanitation to be available to all. In all that they do, and in all they achieve, alumni demonstrate the benefits of an IHE Delft education.

The Institute’s Alumni Award recognizes individuals who have made a particularly remarkable impact in a water-related field and who are role models for water professionals. The award was given for the first time in 2013 and resumes in 2022, following a pandemic-related hiatus in 2021 and 2020. Read more about the Alumni Award here.

Alumni in Action

The most obvious and tangible effect of our education activity are our alumni. Our cultural ambassador, Gil Garcetti, was commissioned by IHE Delft, to visit Kenya, Bangladesh and Colombia to meet with these alumni and capture in photography the impact that their work is having on their community and their country. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into the working lives of some of our alumni, who are building on their IHE Delft educational experience to improve people´s lives in relation to water. Read more here.
