Titus Adeyemi Alonge
Titus Adeyemi Alonge comes from Nigeria. He studied for his Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso in Nigeria. He has a passion for agriculture, as a result of experiences in his childhood, when he always went to the farm with his parents. He became interested in the way farmers plants, harvest, processed and generate income from agricultural produce and this was genesis of his enthusiasm for agriculture.
Titus explains that the backbone and main income of Nigeria before the discovery of oil is agriculture. Nigeria has a huge population and the population depends on agricultural produce for sustainability, but they are less interested in its production and security. He believes that agriculture is seriously lacking behind in Nigeria and since the country is affected by climate change, Titus would like to contribute to solving their increasing water and agriculture problems.
Titus worked for two years as an agricultural extension agent, where he coordinated and assisted local farmers. He educated farmers in modern technological development and innovations to improve agriculture productivity in Nigeria. After that, he was offered a teaching assistant’s job at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology University, assisting senior lecturers in academic work and research. Titus wants to educate people to increase people’s interest in agriculture.
Titus is studying Land and Water Development for Food Security at IHE Delft. He received an NFP scholarship. His mentor ‘Dr. Olumuyiwa Ojo’ introduced and recommended IHE Delft to him. Titus also looked at other Institutes but he chose IHE Delft because of its focus on water education. He also wants to get more insight into solving issues related to groundwater, so he can apply this in Nigeria.

Titus‘s goal is to become a faculty member of a University in Nigeria, to solve problems and contribute to the development of Nigeria in agricultural and water sector. Titus wants to work in his home country and educate his people.
