Webinar: IPCC Projections & Planning for Sea Level Rise Risk

Aerial view of the Marshall Islands. According to the IPCC, global temperatures could exceed a 3 °Cabove pre-industrial temperature increase by 2100 with global-mean sea level rise projected between one and four feet or higher.

On 30 January , authors of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report will share insights on global, regional and local projections of sea level rise in a webinar open to all who register.

Do you want to know more about the IPCC projections and planning for sea level rise? This event will present key information on sea-level rise from the IPCC Working Group I and II reports, including adaptation challenges. In addition to  presenting the latest projections, the authors will discuss where to find data and how to interpret it. The webinar also focuses on  how practitioners can interpret low-likelihood/high-impact sea-level rise projections and use these in adaptation efforts. The event will conclude with the presentation of a policy brief jointly created by three European Union (EU)-funded projects: PROTECTCoCliCo and SCORE.

Rosh Ranasinghe, IHE Delft Professor of Climate Change Impacts & Coastal Risk, is part of the IPCC team delivering this webinar.

This event will be particularly useful for those  involved in coastal adaptation or integrated coastal zone management, and for professionals who  work at the interface between science and society, including journalists and science communicators.

The webinar is organised by PROTECT, an EU-funded project aimed at producing robust global, regional and local projections of sea level rise.
