Paper on ShorelineS model published in Frontiers in Marine Science
IHE Delft Prof. Dano Roelvink, with other partners and contributions from two students and colleagues, co-authored an open access paper on the ShorelineS model, published in Frontiers in Marine Science this week.
In the paper, a new free-form coastline model, ShorelineS, is presented that is able to describe large coastal transformations based on relatively simple principles. The main objective of the current paper is to demonstrate the capabilities that arise when a model with a flexible, coastline-following grid is used: namely, straightforward definition of a complex planform, freedom to allow coastal evolution in any direction, and the possibility to merge and split coastline sections where needed.
